Singapore, August 24, 2023 – ArcadeXR, the indie studio behind VR’s official arcade experience, Arcade Legend, proudly announced its partnership with BATL Axe Throwing, marking a groundbreaking update to the game which brings the first official VR axe throwing experience to Meta Quest.

Arcade Legend, set in the expanding entertainment hub of a city, allows players to build their own arcade and play officially licensed arcade games with friends, unlock attractions like 10-pin bowling and use tickets to redeem prizes from their very own prize store.  Version 2.0 allows players to explore the neighborhood surrounding their and visit the newest entertainment venue to move in – BATL Axe Throwing, a virtual version of the real-world axe throwing chain that invented the sport.

Matt Wilson, the visionary behind BATL started the sport in his own backyard and grew it into an enterprise with 17 locations across the U.S. and Canada. He also founded The International Axe Throwing Federation (IATF), the sport’s official governing body with hundreds of member locations across the globe.

Wilson, BATL’s CEO and current IATF commissioner, expressed his excitement, stating, “BATL was where the sport of axe throwing started almost 2 decades ago, and we are thrilled to achieve another historic milestone by partnering with ArcadeXR to make BATL the first official axe throwing venue in virtual reality.”

“[The Expansion] continues our vision of bringing location-based entertainment venues to virtual worlds”

The game update launches with 5 different axe throwing game modes, 10 weird and wonderful, heavily thematic axes with special sound and visual effects, and a target so big it should have its own zipcode.  Arcade Legend’s recent public multiplayer lobby update also makes it easy for players to explore other players arcades and find people to meet and compete with.

“The integration of our first entertainment brand marks a significant expansion in Arcade Legend and continues our vision of bringing location-based entertainment venues to virtual worlds” said Shannon Perell, CEO of ArcadeXR.
